Read the guide →Common first questions
Do I need to buy a whole bitcoin?
No. Each bitcoin divides into 100 million units called satoshis (“sats”), so you can start with just a few dollars and own a fraction. Most people never buy a whole coin.
How much money do I need to start?
Almost nothing. You can buy a few dollars of Bitcoin to learn the ropes. We always recommend starting small while you build confidence — understanding first, amounts later.
Is it too late to get into Bitcoin?
Learning is never too late, and understanding how Bitcoin works is valuable no matter the price. The technology is still early, and knowledge always comes before any decision.
Is any of this financial advice?
No. We are an educational nonprofit, not financial advisors. We teach how Bitcoin works so you can make your own informed choices. We never tell anyone what or when to buy.
Can Bitcoin be hacked?
The Bitcoin network itself has never been hacked in over 15 years. Almost all losses come from user-side mistakes — scams, or losing your keys. That’s exactly why we teach security and self-custody first.
What if I lose my phone or my wallet breaks?
Your bitcoin lives on the network, not on the device. As long as you’ve backed up your recovery (“seed”) phrase, you can restore your wallet on a new device. Backing it up safely is a skill we walk you through.
What makes Bitcoin different from other cryptocurrencies?
Bitcoin is decentralized, has a fixed supply of 21 million, and has the longest, most secure track record. We focus specifically on Bitcoin rather than the thousands of speculative tokens.
Are your learning resources really free?
Yes — 100% free and open-source, with no paywall and no account required. We’re funded by donations and our Satoshi Society members so education stays free for everyone.
